FAQs

How big is St. Paul’s Episcopal?

St. Paul’s is a fairly small congregation of between 10 and 50 people. Our size really depends on the weather and the time of year.

What should I wear?

Whatever you’d like! In all seriousness, we don’t care what you wear; we’re just happy you’re joining us. Most of our congregation attends wearing jeans.

What are “Episcopal aerobics”?

Throughout our service, you’ll notice that the congregation is standing up, sitting down, or kneeling. Most of these “aerobics” are noted in your bulletin, but don’t stress if you think you missed a cue. It can take a while to get the hang of all that movement, particularly if you come from a protestant background. If you are mobility challenged, feel free to sit throughout the service.

I am LGBTQ+. Am I welcome at St. Paul’s?

Of course! We are an open and affirming church. All Christians are welcome to serve throughout our church, participate in communion, and marry whomever they want. Our clergy and staff also include several LGBTQ+ members, so you’ll definitely fit right in.

I am a recovering (or current) alcoholic/drug addict. Am I welcome at St. Paul’s?

Of course! Jesus came to seek and save the lost and to help the struggling, and we are so glad that you are part of our Christian family. We have non-alcoholic white grape juice available during Eucharist (communion) for our friends who don’t drink for a variety of reasons.

I am not baptized/am not a Christian/am not Episcopalian. Am I welcome at St. Paul’s?

Of course! We welcome visitors of all faiths and none. Whether you are a baptized Christian or not is between you and God.

If you aren’t baptized but wish to be, be sure to chat with Rev. Julie after the service during coffee hour or schedule a time to meet with her one-on-one. Sometimes life (or COVID) just gets in the way.

If you aren’t a Christian, we look forward to meeting you and answering whatever questions you may have about us and our faith. If you are struggling with anything and would like some prayer or need a little extra support, we’re here for you.

If you aren’t Episcopalian, most of us weren’t when we started attending. The Episcopal church family is made up of the former members of many denominations – Catholic, protestant, evangelical, you name it.

Do you have a Facebook page?

We sure do! Our Facebook page is where we live-stream our Sunday services. It’s also where you can find out about events and see pictures of past events. https://www.facebook.com/St.PaulsEpiscopalChurchElkoNV
